When is the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery? Odds, tiebreakers, and key dates explained

The 2021 NBA Draft Lottery will take place on Tuesday, June 22 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

2021 marks the third year of a new Draft Lottery system in which each of the league's bottom three teams has an equal chance at obtaining the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, which takes place on Thursday, July 29. 

With the NBA regular season officially over, we now know where teams fall with respect to lottery odds in the upcoming draft.

Below, find a table that details the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery odds. This year there are three tiebreakers, two of which are two-way ties and the other being a three-way split. Those tiebreakers will be handled via coin toss ahead of the NBA Draft Lottery and the odds will be updated accordingly.

Tiebreakers explained

Six ties among teams with identical regular-season records were broken on Tuesday, May 25 through random drawings to determine the order of selection for the 2021 NBA Draft.

  • The Oklahoma City Thunder (22-50) won a tiebreaker with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
  • The Chicago Bulls (31-41) won a tiebreaker with the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings. Second and third place in the tiebreaker drawings went to Sacramento and New Orleans, respectively.
  • The Charlotte Hornets (33-39) won a tiebreaker with the San Antonio Spurs.
