On Thursday afternoon, Cleveland Cavaliers centre Tristan Thompson had a clear-cut message for the entire Eastern Conference.

"We're still four-time Eastern Conference champions, so until you take us down from that, teams ain't got much to say," Thompson said. "Boston, Philly, they ain't got much to say. Boston had homecourt in Game 7 and lost. Philly, you guys almost got swept. Toronto - we know that story."

The buzz around the Cavaliers has silenced since LeBron James left the franchise for the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent in July. Thompson, however, is here to remind us that the Cavs are still the reigning Eastern Conference champions for the fourth straight season.

Even so, it did not take long for other players in the East to respond:

We can only hope Joel Embiid chooses to weigh in on the topic as well.
