Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum suffered a left foot sprain in the first half of Saturday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks and was been ruled out for the second half.

McCollum injured his foot on a drive to the basket in the first quarter. As he came down, Clint Capela appeared to step on his foot and it twisted. The Trail Blazers guard remained in the game until halftime and accounted for 16 points and one assist in 19 minutes.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported McCollum will undergo an MRI to gauge the severity of the injury.

Portland went on to win the game 112-106 with Damian Lillard coming up big late by sinking clutch free-throws and taking a charge late. He finished with 36 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.

Including this game. McCollum has averaged 26.7 points - a career-high and fourth-best in the league. He leads the league in 3-pointers made with 4.8 per game at an efficiency of 44.1% - both career-highs. His assists average of 5.0 is also a career mark.

Update: A couple of days after McCollum left the game vs. Hawks, the Trail Blazers released an update on his injury.
