When the Toronto Raptors open their preseason schedule against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, they'll do so without Kyle Lowry.
The Raptors announced ahead of the game that Lowry has been "granted permission" to remain in Tampa, Florida - the franchise's home base for the first half of the 2020-21 NBA season - and did not travel with the team to Charlotte.
With the Raptors scheduled to play their second preseason game against the Hornets in Charlotte on Monday, Lowry will miss that game as well.

Lowry is entering his ninth season with the Raptors. He's made six straight All-Star appearances with averages of 18.5 points, 7.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game.
