Talking NBA with Anthony Davis: Explaining the pivot technique

If you've ever watched Anthony Davis play, then you have seen how he has the ability to score from every spot on the basketball court.

In this video, AD defines the pivot, which is a footwork technique in which a player keeps one foot on the floor, while moving the other foot to adjust their body or to evade a defensive player. Since AD usually plays power forward or centre, this is a technique he uses when posting players up from the block.

Thanks to the pivot technique, AD averaged 25.0 points in the 2020 NBA Finals, where his Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat in six games.

Although AD is a big man that uses the pivot technique it's useful for players at every position so guards should learn the pivot technique, too.

Will you work on your pivot next time you're in the gym?
