A star-studded Saturday night was set with a number of the NBA's contenders taking the floor.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz were just some of the top line teams in action.

Brooklyn Nets 128, Miami Heat 124

With no Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo went off for a career-high 41 and he nearly led the Nets back from 18 points down but the Nets recorded the win in the 'Big 3' era. 

Kyrie Irving scored 18 of his 28 in the fourth to ice the game while Kevin Durant scores 31, for his fourth-straight 30-point game and James Harden finished with 12 points and 11 assists.

Philadelphia 76ers 114, Detroit Pistons 110

The duo of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid help the 76ers escape Detroit with the win. Embiid finished with 33 points and 14 rebounds while Simmons had a near triple-double with 20 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. 

Philly have now won three in a row and five of their last six while the Pistons have slipped to 3-13 with their fourth straight loss.

Minnesota Timberwolves 120, New Orleans Pelicans 110

No Karl-Anthony Towns and no D'Angelo Russell and yet the short-handed Timberwolves snap a four-game losing streak behind a balanced offence led by Naz Reid's 20 points, 18 from rookie Anthony Edwards, and 16 by Malik Beasley. 

Brandon Ingram was the Pelicans' top scorer but the team slips to their third straight loss and their eighth in the last nine.

Houston Rockets 133, Dallas Mavericks 108

The new-look Houston Rockets blew out the Mavericks behind a vintage performance from DeMarcus Cousins. The Rockets big man finished with 28 points and 17 rebounds.

Los Angeles Lakers 101, Chicago Bulls 90

As they have for much of the season so far, the Lakers put it in cruise control against the Bulls, coasting to an easy win.

Anthony Davis had 37 points for the Lakers.

Utah Jazz 127, Golden State Warriors 108

The Utah Jazz made it eight straight wins with a comfortable win over the Warriors.

Finishing with 24 points, Steph Curry made history by passing Reggie Miller to now sit second on the all-time 3-pointers made list.

Denver Nuggets 120, Phoenix Suns 112 (2OT)

An epic double overtime game finished with Denver coming out on top, thanks to a clutch triple from Jamal Murray to keep the Nuggets alive in regulation

Nikola Jokic was dominant for Denver, finishing with 29 points and 22 rebounds.

Joel Embiid - 33 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks

DeMarcus Cousins - 28 points, 17 rebonds, five assists, 4-for-8 3P

Nikola Jokic - 29 points, 22 rebounds, six assists, 11-for-14 FT
