Sacramento Kings guard De'Aaron Fox sidelined 7-10 days with left ankle sprain

Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox is set to be on the sidelines for 7-10 days after suffering a left ankle sprain at practice, the team announced today.

Fox's injury was confirmed after undergoing an MRI.

The third-year guard will likely miss the Kings' opening scrimmage against the Miami Heat on July 22, with two more scrimmages scheduled against the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers prior to their first game of the season restart against the San Antonio Spurs on July 31.

Fox missed 17 games earlier this season after suffering a sprain in the same ankle at practice in November.

Prior to the season suspension in March, the Kings were playing some of their best basketball of the season, going 7-3 in their final 10 games, sitting in a three-way tie with the Portland Trail Blazers and New Orleans Pelicans, 3.5 games back of the eighth-seed Memphis Grizzlies.

In 45 games this season, Fox averaged career-highs across the board with 20.4 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds in 31.7 minutes per game.

Fox is the latest Kings player to suffer a hampered start to their season restart, with four players in Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Jabari Parker and Alex Len testing positive for COVID-19, meanwhile, Richaun Holmes had to be quarantined in his hotel room for 10 days after inadvertently leaving the Orlando campus.
