The Sacramento Kings tough start to the 2019-20 NBA season has been further soured by the news that Marvin Bagley III has suffered a non-displaced fracture in his right thumb.

Bagley III is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, the team announced today.

The untimely setback follows Sacramento's 124-95 season-opening loss to the Phoenix Suns, where Bagley tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes.

The expected time on the sideline is a blow to the 20-year-old forward, who is projected to be a breakout candidate on a Kings team looking to reach the postseason for the first time since 2006.

Bagley appeared in 62 games with four starts in his rookie season last year, averaging 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

In Bagley's absence, Nemanja Bjelica will likely move into a starting role, with the Serbian big man logging 20 minutes off the bench in the loss to the Suns.
