With a 3-point shot late in the second quarter in the Oklahoma City Thunder's loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday, Russell Westbrook became the all-time points leader in Thunder/Seattle Supersonics history.

He surpassed Hall of Famer and 2006 NBA champion Gary Payton (18,207 points) on the all-time leaderboard.

With a season-high 44 points in the loss, Westbrook extends his points tally to 18,247, currently good for 70th on the all-time NBA points leaderboard.

The 2016-17 MVP isn't too far behind Payton on the franchise assists' leaderboard as well. Currently with 6,661 for his career, Westbrook needs another 724 assists to overtake Payton.

For the history books, it's important to note that although Westbrook never donned the Sonics jersey, he was drafted 4th overall in 2008 NBA Draft by the Sonics.
