RJ Barrett has eyes on Olympic games with Team Canada

The New York Knicks have been one of the pleasant surprises of the season so far. Sitting 19-19, the Knicks are firmly entrenched in the playoff conversation as the second half begins.

A big part of the early success has been RJ Barrett making strides on the offensive end, bumping up his scoring while also seeing his efficiency climb.

Averaging 16.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, Barrett ranks fourth among second-year players for scoring while appearing in all 38 contests.

In an exciting piece of news for Canadian basketball fans, the 20-year-old has flagged his intentions to suit up for Team Canada at the Tokyo Olympics after this year's NBA season.

Barrett would join an exciting cast of young stars of the Canadian roster, with Jamal Murray, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lu Dort and Dillon Brooks just a sample of the talent that could shape the future of the national team.

It's fair to say dunks like the one below on the Milwaukee Bucks would be a welcome addition to the Olympic highlight reel later in the year.

Originally scheduled for 2020 and postponed due to COVID-19, the Olympics are set to begin on July 23 and run through to August 8.
