Report: Utah Jazz trade Dante Exum, picks to Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Jordan Clarkson

Australian point guard Dante Exum is set for a fresh start, with the Jazz reportedly trading him to the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Per Woj, the deal will see Exum head to Cleveland along with two future second-round picks in exchange for Jordan Clarkson.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the second-round picks will be a 2022 pick via the San Antonio Spurs and a 2023 pick via the Golden State Warriors.

Clarkson arrives in Utah on a $13.4 million expiring deal, while Exum is owed $19.2 million over the next two seasons. The deal will create a $3.83 million trade exception for the Cavs and bring them further under the luxury tax.

Exum will trade one Aussie teammate for another, leaving Joe Ingles behind in Utah and linking up with Matthew Dellavedova in Cleveland.

The 24-year-old has struggled for consistent minutes over the years after an injury-disrupted tenure in Utah, since he was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, with Cleveland's young roster likely to offer more playing time for the versatile guard.

This season he has appeared in just 11 games for the Jazz, averaging 7.5 minutes per contest.

Meanwhile, the addition of Clarkson will give the Jazz second unit a huge offensive boost, with the 27-year-old averaging 14.6 points per game on 44.2 percent shooting from the field and 37.1 percent from beyond the arc. The Jazz are currently 29th in bench scoring this season.
