Report: Houston Rockets release centre DeMarcus Cousins

The Houston Rockets and centre DeMarcus Cousins have parted ways, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Charania reported over the weekend that the Rockets were set to part ways with the veteran big man, looking to go 'smaller and younger' in the frontcourt. As a generous gesture last week prior to releasing the four-time All-Star, Houston guaranteed Cousins' contract for the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old was having a solid bounce-back season averaging 9.6 points and 7.6 rebounds over 25 games and is expected to receive interest on the open market.
