The LA Clippers continue to bolster their second unit with the reported addition of Nic Batum.

Batum is expected to sign with the Clippers after he was waived by the Charlotte Hornets, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Charlotte is expected to use the stretch provision on Batum, who is in the final year of his deal worth $27,130,435 — a move that frees up cap space to complete the acquisition of Gordon Hayward on a four-year, $120 million contract.

Batum, 31, has struggled in recent years due to injuries, only playing 22 games in 2019-20, averaging a career-low 3.6 points on 34.6 percent shooting and 28.6 percent from the 3-point line.

Given Batum's versatility, defence, and size on the wing, it's a low-risk, high-reward move for the Clippers if he can contribute off the bench in a smaller role.
