The Los Angeles Lakers have added Lionel Hollins as an assistant to their coaching staff, as per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 65-year old Hollins will join Jason Kidd on Frank Vogel's new coaching staff for the Lakers.

Hollins is a veteran coach with over two decades of coaching experience.

He's worked as an assistant coach for a majority of his time in the league but his last two coaching stints - Memphis Grizzlies (2009-13) and Brooklyn Nets (2014-16) - were head coaching jobs.

Hollins has had a long association with the Grizzlies. He was also an assistant with the team from 2002 to 2007, which included a year of being the interim head coach (2004).

He leads the Grizzlies franchise charts in the following categories - most games coached (regular season - 351 and playoffs -35), most wins by a head coach (regular season - 196 and playoffs - 18). He also led the Grizzlies to their only Conference Finals appearance in franchise history in 2013.

Before he began coaching in 1988, Hollins had played ten seasons (1975-85) in the league.

During his playing career in the league, he won a championship with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1977, he was named to the 1978 All-Star Team and a couple of Defensive Teams (First team - 1978; Second Team - 1979).
