Report: Los Angeles Lakers add Lionel Hollins as an assistant to Frank Vogel's coaching staff

The Los Angeles Lakers have added Lionel Hollins as an assistant to their coaching staff, as per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 65-year old Hollins will join Jason Kidd on Frank Vogel's new coaching staff for the Lakers.

Hollins is a veteran coach with over two decades of coaching experience.

He's worked as an assistant coach for a majority of his time in the league but his last two coaching stints - Memphis Grizzlies (2009-13) and Brooklyn Nets (2014-16) - were head coaching jobs.

Hollins has had a long association with the Grizzlies. He was also an assistant with the team from 2002 to 2007, which included a year of being the interim head coach (2004).

He leads the Grizzlies franchise charts in the following categories - most games coached (regular season - 351 and playoffs -35), most wins by a head coach (regular season - 196 and playoffs - 18). He also led the Grizzlies to their only Conference Finals appearance in franchise history in 2013.

Before he began coaching in 1988, Hollins had played ten seasons (1975-85) in the league.

During his playing career in the league, he won a championship with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1977, he was named to the 1978 All-Star Team and a couple of Defensive Teams (First team - 1978; Second Team - 1979).
