Report: Kemba Walker emerges as Los Angeles Lakers' top free agent target following Anthony Davis deal

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to pursue Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker in free agency, following their reported deal for Anthony Davis, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

The Pelicans have reportedly agreed to send Davis to Los Angeles in a blockbuster deal including Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first-round draft picks, including the no.4 pick in this year's draft.

Walker has spent his entire eight-year career in Charlotte after being drafted with the no.9 pick in 2011 and while he has blossomed into an All-Star in Charlotte, the Hornets have only made the playoffs twice, losing in the first round both times.

The 29-year-old is eligible for a five-year, $221.3 million super max deal should he remain with the Hornets, however, earlier this week he said he would be willing to take less in order to help the Hornets build a strong roster around him, but he does intend to meet with other teams.

"That all factors in [to my decision] when I sit down with the teams and hear what guys have to say," Walker said. "I think that will all come into play. I'm not really sure right now. Like I said Charlotte is my first priority and I have to see what (the Hornets) have to offer, as well as other teams."

If he were to leave in free agency, he can sign a max deal for $140.6 million over four years with another team.

Last season, Walker averaged 25.6 points per game, 4.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists as the Hornets finished ninth in the Eastern Conference, with a 39-43 record, missing the playoffs for a third-straight season. Meanwhile, the Lakers finished 10th in the Western Conference, with a 37-45 record after injuries derailed their season, with LeBron James sidelined for 27 games.
