Canadian forward Dillon Brooks (Mississauga, ON) will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 season with a right toe injury per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Sources @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium: Memphis' Dillon Brooks is likely to miss the remainder of the season with right toe injury. Brooks will undergo a procedure, but is expected to fully recover and have full summer of workouts.- Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) January 9, 2019
Brooks only appeared in 18 games for the Memphis Grizzlies averaging 7.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in 18.3 minutes off the bench. After playing in the first 11 games of the season he was forced to miss 21 games due to a Grade 2 MCL sprain.
He came back and competed in seven games for the Grizzlies before this right toe injury forced him to the sideline again.
Brooks showed plenty of promise in his rookie campaign where posted 11.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists appearing in all 82 games. It's encouraging that he is expected to have a full Summer of workouts following this procedure, though his 2018-19 campaign left much to be desired after a season of riddling injuries.
This is another domino to fall against the Grizzlies who are 3-13 in their last 16 games after starting the season 15-9. They are currently 18-22, 3.5 games out of the last playoff spot in the West.
