The Detroit Pistons can't catch a break as their No. 7 overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft, Killian Hayes, is out indefinitely after suffering a labral tear in his hip, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Hayes has no current timetable for a return.
Hayes hadn't burst onto the scene the way the Pistons had hoped he would just yet, but the rookie guard was still given the keys to the team, starting in all seven games he suited up for to start the season. Detroit had been using this season to get their three first-round picks - Hayes, Isaiah Stewart (No. 16 overall) and Saddiq Bey (No. 19 overall) - acclimated for the future, so this injury takes that plan off track.
Averaging 4.6 points, 3.6 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game while shooting 27.7% from the field and 25.0% from 3, Hayes' numbers had plenty of room for improvement but Detroit had all intentions of letting him figure things out, playing 21.1 minutes per contest.
His best game came against the Atlanta Hawks where Hayes nearly had the first double-double of his young career, going for 10 points and eight assists in a close loss.

The Pistons currently sit at 1-6 on the season in last place in the Eastern Conference.
More to come.
