Report: Dallas Mavericks trade for Golden State Warriors centre Willie Cauley-Stein

The Dallas Mavericks might have found their replacement for Dwight Powell, who recently suffered a season-ending injury.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Mavericks have agreed to send a 2020 second-round pick to the Golden State Warriors for Willie Cauley-Stein.

Cauley-Stein has started in 37 of the 41 games he has appeared in this season, posting averages of 7.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. He has the potential to complement Luka Doncic well on offence as a screener in pick-and-rolls - a fifth of Cauley-Stein's scoring this season has come as the roll man and he ranks in the 56th percentile with an average of 1.14 points per possession.

Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Cauley-Stein will allow the Mavericks to continue playing two big men in wake of Powell's injury.

Cauley-Stein is making $2.2 million this season. He has a player option worth $2.3 million for next season.

The Mavericks reportedly completed another trade earlier in the day, sending Isaiah Roby to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Justin Patton. According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, the Mavericks will waive Patton as a result of this trade.
