Rookies Grayson Allen and Luka Doncic highlight the second night of preseason

A second night of preseason basketball is in the books.

What started with Kawhi Leonard making his Toronto Raptors debut in front of a sellout crowd in Vancouver ended with the Utah Jazz blowing out the Perth Wildcats in the night's finale.

Sprinkled in between was Luka Doncic carrying the Dallas Mavericks to a commanding victory over the Beijing Ducks and the Minnesota Timberwolves defeating the Golden State Warriors by a slim margin at Oracle Arena.

Minnesota Timberwolves 114, Golden State Warriors 110

The Timberwolves were able to pull away from the Warriors down the stretch. They went with a two-point guard starting lineup with Teague and Rose and it paid off. Teague had 17 points, three assists and three boards while Rose posted 16 points and added two steals. Newly acquired Anthony Tolliver buried five threes for 15 points for the Timberwolves as well. Jimmy Butler did not play, dress or show for the Timberwolves.

Curry had 21 points on a 7-for-11 shooting night and Klay Thompson added 17 points shooting 7-for-13. The Warriors superstars all looked in midseason form, though they only played about 20 minutes each.

10:51 p.m. -  The Timberwolves guards got it done tonight! Minnesota defeats the Warriors 114-110.


10:38 p.m. -  With under four minutes remaining, the Warriors and Timberwolves are tied at 108!


9:38 p.m. -  The Warriors lead the Timberwolves 71-65 at the half. Klay Thompson leads all scorers with 15 points. Jeff Teague has 13 points in 13 minutes for the T'Wolves.


9:23 p.m. -  Welcome to the league Josh Okogie! The rookie throws it down on Jonas Jerebko for his first NBA points.


8:56 p.m. -  Steph Curry picking up right where he left off. He starts the game 3-for-3 from beyond the arc!


8:23 p.m. -  The defending champions announce their starters! They're going with Damian Jones at centre.


7:26 p.m. -  The Timberwolves have announced their starting lineup. Seems like there's someone missing...


7:09 p.m. -  The pregame handles are back! Stephen Curry is getting ready for the first game of the preseason.


Dallas Mavericks 116, Beijing Ducks 63

The highly anticipated debut of Luka Doncic was no bust. Doncic had 16 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two assists, making it look easy on both ends of the floor. Dennis Smith Jr. finished with 16 points and six assists, showcasing his athleticism all night long.

11:07 p.m. -  The Mavericks defeat the Ducks 116-63. Doncic and Smith Jr. tied with a team-high 16 points each. Justin Hamilton had 29 points for the Ducks.


  10:53 p.m. -  It's in his blood! Kostas Antetokoumnpo throws it down on the Ducks' big man.


10:31 p.m. -  Doncic with a no look dime over the top of the Ducks' defense.


9:51 p.m. -  The Mavericks lead the Ducks 52-42 at halftime. Doncic has eight points, four boards and an assist. Former NBA player Justin Hamilton has 22 points, shooting 12-for-12 from the free throw line for the Ducks.


9:35 p.m. -  Mavericks fans are going to feel good about this one. Through the legs, behind the back and high off the glass from the first-round pick.


8:50 p.m. - Update: Dennis Smith Jr. is still freakishly athletic.


8:46 p.m. -  And Luka Doncic is on the board! A coast to coast finish for the rookie's first NBA bucket.


7:44 p.m. -  It's almost time. We are under an hour away from Luka Doncic's NBA debut!


Utah Jazz 130, Perth Wildcats 72

This one was all Jazz the entire time. It was hightlighted by rookie Grayson Allen leading all scorers with 19 points shooting 5-for-9 from long range. Alec Burks also had a solid outting with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists. 

11:27 p.m. -  Utah defeats Perth 130-72. Grayson Allen leads all scorers with 19 points!


10:51 p.m. -  Stop me if you've heard this before: Grayson Allen for three. Again. This time off the dribble!


10:14 p.m. -  The Jazz are up 41 at the half. They lead the Wildcats 75-34.


10:09 p.m. -  Donovan Mitchell throws the lob and Rudy Gobert nicely places the ball in the hoop.


9:54 p.m. -  Grayson Allen is wasting NO time to make his mark. The rook is four-for-four from long range to start his NBA career!


9:38 p.m. -  Alec Burks with the sweet dish lining up Grayson Allen for his first NBA points!


8:27 p.m. -  Utah's starters are in. They're starting Royce O'Neale in place of an injured Joe Ingles tonight.
