On the second night of the NBA season there was plenty of action with 11 games on the schedule.

22 teams opened their season Wednesday, and there were a number of notable debuts. Kawhi Leonard scored 24 points in his first regular-season win as a Raptor and DeMar DeRozan led the Spurs to a win with 28 points. 

The Rockets, who lost just seven games at home last season, suffered a 19-point loss to Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans. Davis scored a game-high 32 points and made his presence felt on both ends of the floor.

No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton lived up to his top-pick billing with an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double in the Suns win over the Mavs while Clippers rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander used a big first half to finish in double-figure scoring in a narrow loss to the Nuggets.

Bucks top performer: Giannis Antetokounmpo – 25 pts, 18 reb, 8 ast

Hornets top performer: Kemba Walker – 41 pts (15-for-29 shooting), 4 ast

It came down to the final play, but the Bucks, who led by as many as 20 points, successfully held off the Hornets' furious comeback. Giannis Antetokounmpo hit the go-ahead free throws late in the game and made a number of big plays, including this dunk:

It came down to the wire, but Aaron Gordon's play pushed the Magic to a three-point win over the Heat to open the year.

The Knicks used a franchise-record 49-point second quarter (!) to build a 23-point halftime lead over the Hawks and never looked back. Big nights from Tim Hardaway Jr. and Enes Kanter led the way for New York but Allonzo Trier had the highlight of the night.

No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in his debut while Luka Dončić scored 10 points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists. Phoenix was in command for the majority of the game but as Dalls cutt into the Suns’ lead, Booker made sure his team was going home with a win with shots like this.

Devin Booker's 18 fourth-quarter points brought his total to 35 as the Suns pulled away from the Mavericks late.
