MORE: Ionescu is ready to change the game

Ionescu was the consensus No. 1 prospect heading into the draft, with the Liberty simply confirming what everyone predicted prior to her name being called.

The 22-year-old now moves to the WNBA having carved out a historic four-year college career where she totalled 2,562 points, 1,091 assists and 1,040 rebounds. Ionescu was the first NCAA player to top 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists while also racking up 26 triple-doubles for good measure.

The Liberty finished the 2019 season with a 10-24 record, and will receive an instant boost with the all-round game of Ionescu heading to New York.

The Dallas Wings selected Satou Sabally out of Oregon with the No. 2 pick, before the Indiana Fever named Lauren Cox out of Baylor No. 3 to round out the top three picks.
