According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers are engaged in trade talks surrounding Clippers centre DeAndre Jordan.

The two teams look to get a deal done before free agency begins on July 1.

The Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner has reported that the Clippers still await Jordan's decision on his player option for the 2018-19 season. If Jordan were to opt in, he is set to earn over $24 million. He has until 11:59 ET on June 29 to decide.

Jordan, a native of Texas, famously made a verbal commitment to sign with the Mavericks in the 2015 offseason before changing his mind and electing to re-sign with the Clippers. The two-time All-Defensive First Team member is coming off a season in which he averaged 12.0 points and 15.2 rebounds in 77 games.

On Tuesday, LA acquired centre Marcin Gortat from the Washington Wizards in exchange for guard Austin Rivers. Dallas made a draft-night trade to acquire rookie guard Luka Doncic and have rescinded its qualifying offer to centre Salah Mejri, per Yahoo's Shams Charania.
