NBA Trade Deadline: 76ers trade Markelle Fultz to Orlando Magic

#Fultz

The Markelle Fultz era in Philadelphia has come to an end.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the 76ers have agreed to trade Fultz to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Jonathan Simmons, a first and second-round pick.

Fultz who's just 20 years old has been in and out of the lineup with a nagging shoulder and wrist injury. In his rookie year, he appeared in just 14 regular season games but never seemed quite healthy.

Fultz played in the 76ers' first 19 games this season, but he and his camp decided to sit out and rehab his shoulder that they claimed was never 100 percent.

With a rebuilding Magic squad that's in need of backcourt help, Fultz may be able to get healthy and hopefully fulfil his potential after being selected number one overall in the 2017 draft.

Fultz is currently under contract for $8.3 million, $9.7 million and $12.3 million over the next three seasons. The Magic will have the option to exercise the last year of his current deal.

The 76ers get back their 2020 first-round pick from the Magic - a pick they initially got from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Jerami Grant deal - according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.

They also acquire Simmons who in his fourth season has appeared in 41 games and is averaging 12.1 points, 4.3 rebounds per 36 minutes.
