After one game, Zion Williamson's time at the 2019 MGM Resorts NBA Summer League has come to an end the team announced today.

The Pelicans have decided to err on the side of caution after Williamson bruised his knee in the first half of the opening game of Summer League play. The No. 1 overall pick sat for the entirety of the second half before the game was called due to safety concerns stemming from an earthquake.

In an official release made by the Pelicans, Executive VP of Basketball Operations David Griffin said that "Zion will move forward from this incident without issue. However, in an abundance of caution, we have made the determination that he will not appear in game action for the remainder of the NBA Summer League. He will continue to take part in training and conditioning with our performance team."

Prior to sustaining the injury, Williamson had caught the amazement of a sold-out crowd, scoring 11 points (on 4-for-9 shooting) in limited action. Many came in emphatic fashion.

The Pelicans will again take the floor later on as they face Rui Hachimura and the Washington Wizards. Fans can expect to see Williamson back in action when the preseason rolls around in early October.
