NBA Summer League 2019: Las Vegas Summer League Day 2 Recap

The Summer League action continued on Day 2 in Las Vegas, with plenty of highlights.

Carsen Edwards impressed for the Celtics with a strong offensive performance, while Clippers' first-round pick Mfiondu Kabengele put in a dominant display in the paint with 21 points and 10 rebounds against the Lakers.

Utah Jazz 78, Oklahoma City Thunder 66


Jazz: Tony Bradley – 19 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

OKC: Hamidou Diallo – 20 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block

Coming off a strong Salt Lake Summer League, big man Tony Bradley dominated inside for the Jazz, who won all four quarters in a comfortable win.

Detroit Pistons 93, Portland Trail Blazers 73

The Pistons (2-0) were led by Svi Mykhailiuk, who tallied 18 points, three rebounds and four assists. Bruce Brown collected 17 points, three rebounds, 10 assists and three blocks. 

Pistons: Bruce Brown – 17 points, 10 assists, three rebounds, 1 steal, 3 blocks

Blazers: Devin Robinson – 14 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks

Detroit raced out to an early 33-19 lead after the first quarter and led the rest of the way. They had five players score in double figures, amassing 23 assists on their 32 made field goals, compared to Portland's seven

Milwaukee Bucks 89, Atlanta Hawks 83


Bucks: Bonzie Colson – 18 points, 4 rebounds, 3-5 3PT 

Hawks: Jordan Sibert – 22 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals

The Bucks trailed for three quarters before turning it on down the stretch, outscoring the Hawks 27-15 in the fourth quarter.

Boston Celtics 96, Philadelphia 82


Celtics: Carsen Edwards – 20 points, 2 rebounds 3 steals, 5-12 3PT

76ers: Matisse Thybulle – 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block

Carsen Edwards, who went from Philly to Boston in a draft-day trade stood out on Day 2, showing off his of offensive arsenal, scoring at the rim, from three and in the mid-range.

BIg man Tacko Fall got his first taste of Summer League action, recording 6 points and 4 rebounds in 10 minutes of action, with plenty of highlights. 


Memphis Grizzlies 101, Indiana Pacers 75


Grizzlies: Bruno Caboclo – 19 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks

Pacers: Aaron Holiday – 24 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal

Second-year guard Aaron Holiday kept the Pacers in the game, before the Grizzlies took control in the fourth quarter thanks to a 25-5 run to start the period.

Los Angeles Clippers 93, Los Angeles Lakers 87


Clippers: Mfiondu Kabengele – 21 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block

Lakers: Devontae Cacok – 17 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal

Four Clippers scored in double-figures, led by first round pick Mfiondu Kabengele who put in a energetic performance, hauling in six offensive rebounds, while shooting 7-of-14 from the field.

Dallas Mavericks 113, Houston Rockets 81

Mavericks: Daryl Macon – 16 points, 1 rebounds, 3 assists, 5-8 3PT

Rockets: Isaiah Hartenstein – 20 points, 13 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 blocks

Macon had the hot hand from three, draining five triples against the Rockets.

Washington Wizards 84, New Orleans Pelicans 79


Wizards: Troy Brown Jr. – 18 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block

Pelicans: Trevon Bluiett – 23 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal

No. 8 pick Rui Hachimura impressed in his first Sumer League outing with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. With the Wizards leading by three points with two seconds remaining, he came up with a big rebound, before draining a pair of clutch free throws to ice the game.

Sacramento Kings 94, China 77


Kings: Kyle Guy – 21 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal

China: Ailun Guo – 20 points, 5 assists

Kyle Guy had the hot hand against the Chinese National Team, scoring 21 points on an efficient 6-of-11 shooting, including 2-of-6 from three.

Golden State Warriors 80, Toronto Raptors 71


Warriors: Jacob Evans – 24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal

Raptors: Chris Boucher – 21 points, 13 rebounds1 block

After trailing at the half 38-31, the Warriors mounted a comeback, winning the third quarter 28-7 to take control of the contest.
