In addition to making multiple Free Agency acquisitions, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the team is re-signing Rajon Rondo on a two-year deal.

Rondo, who signed with the Lakers in the offseason of 2018, averaged 9.2 points, 8.0 assists and 5.3 rebounds in his first season donning the purple and gold. The 33-year-old appeared in 46 games, starting in 29 of them.

Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times has reported that Rondo's deal is worth the veteran's minimum.

The reported mid-June trade that would send Anthony Davis to Los Angeles left the Lakers with just three players - LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma and rookie Talen Horton-Tucker - under contract for the upcoming season. After missing out on free agent Kawhi Leonard, the team has rapidly made moves to fill out its roster.

Rondo battled a number of ailments during the 2018-19 season that caused him to miss over 30 games but recorded 14 double-doubles and one triple-double when he was healthy. His biggest moments included a 15-point, 10-assist, five-rebound performance in the Lakers blowout victory over the Warriors on Christmas Day and a game-winner over the Boston Celtics in early February.

He brings a veteran presence and a sense of continuity to a team undergoing a number of changes. As a cerebral point guard, he can also help smooth the transition for Cousins and Davis, as the trio of Kentucky products spent a season as teammates in New Orleans.
