NBA Finals 2020: Miami Heat vs. Los Angeles Lakers Game 5: Score, updates, news, stats and highlights

Game 5 was an absolute epic.

Jimmy Butler worked to the point of exhaustion in posting another monster triple-double, going toe-to-toe with LeBron James in a jaw dropping final five minutes.

Jimmy had 35, LeBron had 40 but it was Miami that stayed alive with the 111-108 win.

The series now sits at 3-2 in favour of the Lakers, with Miami looking to force a game 7 in two days time.

Final - Heat 111, Lakers 108

-Danny Green misses a WIDE OPEN straightaway three and the Lakers recover but turn the ball over. Tyler Herro knocks down two resulting free-throws and the Heat WIN!! Incredible.

-Jimmy takes it straight at Davis and gets back to the free-throw line. He makes both and it's Miami 109-108 with 16 seconds to play.

-Anthony Davis puts the Lakers back on top with a putback. 21 seconds for the Heat to keep their season alive. Incredible.

-LeBron and Butler are going bucket for bucket! THIS IS INSANITY! Lakers lead 106-105 with a minute to play. An exhausted Butler is at the line to give Miami the lead back with 46 seconds left.

-DUNCAN ROBINSON AGAIN!!! He hits another triple and the Heat take the lead back, 101-99 (2:55)

-Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from the corner off the LeBron feed and the Lakers have taken the lead 97-96 (6:18)

-As expected...the Lakers are making another challenge. Davis knocks down two free-throws and it's back to 93-90 (8:06)

-Duncan Robinson is now up to six 3-point makes in the game. He has 23 points the Heat are back out to an 11-point lead at 93-82 (10:30)

-Jimmy Butler has 27 points, nine rebounds and 10 assist. LeBron has 28 points, six rebounds and five assists. The two star players have been outstanding through three quarters but which one will get the edge in the fourth?!

End of the third - Heat 88, Lakers 82

-Adebayo swats Rajon Rondo's lay-up attempt off the glass as the third quarter comes to a close. What a game we've got going on here...

-Duncan Robinson 4-point play converted and the Heat open up an 86-80 lead with 35 seconds left in the period.

-LeBron James has 27 points, 6 rebounds and five assists, while Jimmy Butler has 27 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Just an epic battle between those two.

-Miami extended their lead to eight, but a 7-0 run for the Lakers has brought it right back to 78-77 (4:01)

-Flagrant 1 foul is the call on Howard. Butler goes to the line and makes the free-throw.

-Jimmy Butler finishes on a TOUGH putback and is swatted across the head by Howard. The play is under review. Butler was a little shaken but walked to the bench, Heat lead 72-70 (6:41)

-It's a 3-point shootout to start the second half. The Lakers have nailed three while the Heat have knocked down two. Heat lead 68-65 (8:29)

-We are underway in the second half! Can Miami hold on to keep their season alive?

Half - Lakers 56, Heat 60

-JIMMY BUTLER AS THE SHOT CLOCK EXPIRES! The desperation triple gives Miami an 60-56 lead at the half. Sheesh what a performance from Butler.

-The Lakers have been able to find success in transition off Miami turnovers and have cut it to 50-47. LeBron has 21 points on 9-for-11 shooting (2:03)

-Butler is putting up another classic first half. He has 17 points, five rebounds and five assists and Miami lead 48-39 (3:53)

-LeBron James has 14 points including two triples but all the energy plays are in favour of Miami. The Heat are playing with a desperation you would expect with their season on the line. Miami up 41-33 (6:33)

-Kendrick Nunn is ON FIRE! Miami lead 36-37 and Nunn has nine points on 4-for-5 shooting (9:22)

-The Lakers are reporting that Davis has aggravated a heel injury but is available to return. HUGE relief for Lakers fans.

End of the first - Lakers 24, Heat 25

-The story remains Davis, but it's the Heat who take a 25-24 lead after one. Butler and Duncan Robinson have eight points each.

-Davis has exited the game and is remaining near the Lakers bench but he looks very sore. It's hard to tell what caused the injury from the replay.

-Huge moment in the game. Anthony Davis is down holding his ankle. Davis has been a HUGE factor in this game early.

-Kendrick Nunn buries the triple to give the Heat the 20-18 lead. Nice little run from Miami...could Nunn be the x-factor they need off the bench? (3:10)

-Anthony Davis is cooking early. He knocks down a beautiful mid-range jumper to give Los Angeles the 18-13 lead. AD has six points and two boards (4:59)

-It's physical early and Jimmy Butler and Dwight Howard get tangled up under the basket. Doube-tech called on the play as the Lakers lead 14-11 (6:48)

-First basket goes to Bam Adebayo on the dish inside from Tyler Herro!
