In leading the Toronto Raptors to the 2019 NBA Championship, Nick Nurse became the only coach ever to win an NBA and G League title.

Prior to being named the head coach of the Raptors, Nurse was an assistant with the team for five years from 2013 to 2018.

Before that, Nurse was a head coach in the D-League (now the G League) for six years from 2007 to 2013. During that tenure, he led two franchises to D-League Championships - the Iowa Energy in 2011 and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2013.

Nurse now becomes the ninth rookie head coach to win the NBA Finals, joining a list that also includes Pat Riley, Steve Kerr and Tyronn Lue.
