NBA Finals 2019: Kevin Durant exits Game 5 after sustaining lower leg injury

Kevin Durant's return from injury was cut short in Game 5 as he left with what the team has announced is an Achilles injury.

Durant went down early in the second quarter after he attempted to back down Serge Ibaka on the perimeter, immediately clutching his right leg.

The 30-year-old was helped back to the locker room by training staff, alongside Andre Iguodala and Stephen Curry, putting a limited amount of pressure on the injured leg.

ESPN confirmed Durant had been diagnosed with a "right lower leg injury" and is set to undergo an MRI on Tuesday.

Durant began the game on fire, scoring 11 points in 12 minutes of action, connecting on 3-of-3 from the 3-point line.
