NBA Draft 2020: Milwaukee Bucks select RJ Hampton with the No. 24 overall pick

The Milwaukee Bucks selected the 19-year-old RJ Hampton with the No. 24 overall pick.

This pick was reportedly traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, in the deal headlined by the Bucks acquiring Jrue Holiday. According to reports, the Pelicans have further traded the pick to the Nuggets. So, RJ Hampton will be headed to Denver.

A star right out of high school, Hampton joined the New Zealand Breakers through the NBL Next Stars program. After 15 games where he averaged 8.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game shooting 40.7 percent from the field, he returned to the United States in early February to prepare for the 2020 Draft.

Representing the United States internationally, Hampton was a member of two gold medal-winning squads - the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Argentina and the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup in Argentina.

In his scouting report, NBA.com Draft expert Eric Fawcett talks about there being more to Hampton than just the fastest player in this class:

"When the game slows down Hampton's biggest offensive strength is his touch in the midrange. His speed will often get him into the middle of the floor and when he meets opposition he has one of the purest midrange strokes in the class and if his momentum is still rapidly moving forward he has impeccable touch with the floater."

Hampton's speed and transition play is one of his biggest strengths and that should serve him well in Denver alongside Jamal Murray.
