NBA MVP James Harden headlines star-studded list of Awards Show winners

The NBA had its' season-ending award show on Monday night in Los Angeles. The event featured plenty of star power both from the basketball world and beyond as seven awards were handed out on the night.

James Harden took home MVP honours after finishing in second place two of the last three seasons. The Rockets' superstar led the league in scoring at 30.4 points shooting 54% from the field.

"Sixth man of the year to the MVP," Harden said of winning the award. "Go chase that dream."

Harden led the Rockets to a league-best 61-21 record and fell just one game shy of making the NBA Finals.

Dwane Casey's tenure as the Raptors' head coach had a happy ending as the former Toronto bench boss was named the NBA's Coach of the Year.

Ben Simmons became the first Australian to take home the Rookie of the Year awards. The 21-year-old averaged 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists breaking multiple rookie records along the way.

Rudy Gobert of the Jazz took home Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 13.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. Lou Williams averaged 22.6 points and 5.3 assists and won the Sixth Man of the Year for the second time in his career. The Clippers' super-sub scored 35 or more points off the bench six times this season.

Teammate of the Year Award: Jamal Crawford, Timberwolves

Hustle Award: Amir Johnson, 76ers

Assist of the Year: LeBron James, Cavaliers

Block of the Year: Anthony Davis, Pelicans

Clutch Shot of the Year: LeBron James, Cavaliers

Dunk of the Year: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks

Handle of the Year: Kyrie Irving, Celtics

Play of the Year: LeBron James, Cavaliers

NBA Live Cover Boy: Joel Embiid, 76ers

Executive of the Year: Daryl Morey, Rockets

Sager Strong Award: Dikembe Mutombo, Hall of Fame
