NBA All-Star Game 2020: Frank Vogel named head coach of Team LeBron at 69th All-Star Game in Chicago

With the Los Angeles Lakers' win against the Brooklyn Nets, head coach Frank Vogel and his coaching staff earned the spot to coach Team LeBron at the 69th NBA All-Star Game at the United Center in Chicago.

The 128-113 win sealed at least a tie for the Lakers (36-9; .800) for the best record in the Western Conference for games played until February 2nd.

The only team that could have had the same record until the cut-off date is the Utah Jazz. As per the NBA rules, the first tie-breaker to decide the All-Star Game head coach is the head-to-head record and the Lakers have beaten the Jazz twice in two games so far and both teams don't face-off again until after the All-Star Weekend.

Thus, Vogel gets the tie-breaker over Quinn Snyder. Vogel also got the nod over the other 13 eligible West head coaches as Denver Nuggets' Mike Malone was ineligible having coached Team LeBron at the 2019 All-Star Game in Charlotte.

Each head coach in the All-Star game leads the team that includes the captain from the same Conference, thus Vogel and his staff will coach the team captained their own player in LeBron James.

At the time of this announcement, the Lakers' record is second only to the Milwaukee Bucks (39-6) in the league. The team has registered four winning streaks of seven or more with the longest being at 10. Their season so far also included a 14-game road winning streak.

The head coach of the team captained by Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the head coach of a team with the best record in the East until Feb. 2nd. Bucks' Mike Budenholzer is ineligible as he was the head coach of Team Giannis last season.
