The Toronto Raptors announced on Wednesday that Marc Gasol will exercise his $25.6 million player option for the 2019-20 season, meaning he will be with the team for at least one more year.

The Raptors acquired Gasol at the trade deadline for Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Miles and a 2024 second-round pick. He started in 19 of the 26 regular season games he played with the Raptors, posting 9.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest.

Gasol then started in all 24 of Toronto's games in the playoffs, helping the franchise win its first-ever NBA title with his two-way play. He played a key role in slowing down All-Star centres Nikola Vucevic and Joel Embiid in the first two rounds and had several big-time performances in both the Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals.
