"This is one of those joyous nights where we escaped. We had Houdini. He got us out of here alive."

That's Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle, who's won upwards of 500 NBA games as a coach including the 2011 NBA Championship, talking about 22-year-old Luka Doncic.

Doncic capped off his huge second-half, where he scored 25 of his game-high 29 points, with an off-balance game-winning floater from beyond the floater at the buzzer.

Just have a look at this image still to better understand the position he was in:

“You pull off a miracle in a game like that once in a blue moon," Carlisle continued on Doncic. "Luka made one of the signature, special shots that you’re going to see for a long time. Get the ball in his hands and he believes anything is possible.”

“I can’t tell you how many thousands of dollars I’ve lost to him because of halfcourt shots. One time in Mexico City I paid him off in pesos I was so pissed.”

His coach wasn't the only one blown away. The young Slovenian's shot - his second career game-winner at the buzzer, had multiple NBA legends (former and present) reacting on Twitter including LeBron James.

This game against the Grizzlies in Memphis witnessed 16 lead changes and 11 ties but the hosts led for most of the second half. However, their gritty play was all undone with Doncic's brilliance.

Coming into this one having lost three of their last four, this victory helps the Mavericks get back on track before a five-game homestand which is wrapped up with two straight against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

The win also helps the team beef up the distance to the eighth-seeded Grizzlies from what would have been just 0.5 games if they had lost to now a 2.5 game lead.
