Paul George: LA Clippers All-Star debuts 'Playstation' Nike PG 5 against Toronto Raptors

Nike PG 5 PlayStation (NIKE)

It's no secret that LA Clippers All-Star Paul George has an affinity for the world of gaming.

So much so, that George, Nike Basketball and PlayStation have collaborated on a number of colourways of George's signature shoe in recent years.

This year, the three have collaborated again for a special PlayStation colourway of the Nike PG 5, debuted in front of a national TV audience in the United States (TNT) and Canada (TSN 4/5, RDS 2) as the Clippers host the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, May 4.

The shoe, which is the fifth iteration of George's signature line with Nike, is heavily inspired by Sony's PlayStation 5, which released globally in November of 2020. PlayStation-inspired design elements can be found throughout the shoe.

The white, black and blue colourway of the shoe identically mirrors that of the PlayStation 5 and also is a perfect match with the Clippers' white "Association" edition uniforms that George paired them with. The tongue of the right shoe features the iconic PlayStation logo while George's logo is featured on the tongue of the left shoe.

Other design elements include "PS5" branding on the midsole and "PG5" branding written in the signature PlayStation font on the ankle collar.

Another set of details that gamers are sure to appreciate are the "X" "O" "□" and "∆" icons featured on the shoe's upper.

Subtle, yet prominent.

The Nike PG 5 x PlayStation is slated for a launch in select global regions on Friday, May 14 and then set to launch in North America on Thursday, May 27, retailing at $120 (USD).
