Kevin Durant injury update: Brooklyn Nets All-Star forward will remain out through NBA All-Star break

The Brooklyn Nets will be without All-Star forward Kevin Durant for at least another three games due to a left hamstring injury.

The team announced that Durant will remain out through the NBA All-Star break after undergoing a routine follow-up MRI on his hamstring.

According to the team's official release, "this extra recovery time will allow (Durant) to perform at the level at which he has been playing this season once he returns."

After missing the entirety of the 2019-20 season while rehabbing his right Achilles, Durant has appeared in 19 of a possible 34 games for the Nets this season, missing time due to rest, the league's health and safety protocols and this most recent injury.

The 32-year-old suffered the hamstring injury in a win over the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 13 and has missed each of the team's last six games but they have gone 6-0 in his absence. Ahead of the All-Star break, Brooklyn will host the Dallas Mavericks before travelling to Texas to take on the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets.

Durant has been playing at an MVP level this season, posting averages of 29.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 52.4 percent from the field, 43.4 percent from 3-point range and 86.9 percent from the stripe.

This latest update also means that Durant, who was the East's leading vote-getter for the 2021 All-Star Game, will not participate in the exhibition, which takes place on Sunday, Mar. 7.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis is expected to be named as Durant's replacement in the game.
