John Wall will undergo surgery to repair his ruptured left Achilles tendon and is expected to miss 'approximately 12 months' from the time of the surgery, per the Washington Wizards.
Wall had reportedly developed an infection in his incision from his initial Achilles surgery on Jan. 8 after suffering the rupture from slipping and falling in his home.
The rupture was discovered when Wall had a procedure to have his infection cleaned out.
This comes as devistating news to the Wizards, who will likely miss their star point guard for nearly the entire 2019-2020 season.
Also worth noting is that next season is the first year of Wall's contract extension he signed with Washington last Summer. He is on the books to make $38.2 million next season, $41.2 million in 2020-21, $44.3 million in 2021-22 and $47.3 million in 2022-23.
Wall played in 32 games for the Wizards this season averaging 20.7 points, 8.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.
The Wizards are currently 22-31, 3.0 games back from the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference.
