It appears as though Jeremy Lin will wear No. 17 with the Toronto Raptors.

After saying he was "hyped" for his new opportunity in an Instagram post on Monday, Lin posted a photoshopped image of himself rocking a Raptors jersey with the caption "1️⃣7️⃣ #WeTheNorth" on Tuesday.

Jonas Valanciunas previously wore No. 17 for the Raptors, but the big man was included in the trade deadline deal that landed Marc Gasol. According to Josh Lewenberg of TSN, Lin said in the comments section of his Instagram post that he texted Valanciunas to ask if he could wear his number, and Valanciunas gave him his permission.

Lewenberg added that Lin is expected to clear waivers by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, making it possible that he'll play against the Washington Wizards later that night.

Lin averaged 10.7 points and 3.5 assists in 19.7 minutes per game with the Atlanta Hawks this season. He has the potential to thrive in Toronto as a playmaker off the bench, especially while Fred VanVleet recovers from a thumb injury that is expected to sideline him for approximately three weeks.
