Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson set to undergo tests after suffering lower leg injury

Just hours away from the Golden State Warriors potentially making a selection with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, reports have surfaced indicating star guard Klay Thompson has suffered a lower leg injury.

Shams Charania of The Athletic was first, indicating the five-time All-Star is set to undergo scans to determine the severity of the injury. Thompson was unable to place weight on his leg as he left the gym the report also revealed.

The injury was confirmed to be on his right leg by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. This is significant, as Thompson has been sidelined since the 2019 NBA Finals after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee.

Thompson, a three-time NBA champion with the franchise holds career averages of 19.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game on 41.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc. 

UPDATE: Warriors PR have now confirmed the reports.

A few hours after Warriors officially announced Thompson's injury, Chris Haynes, Senior Insider for Yahoo Sports, reports that the star could have suffered "a significant Achilles injury" with an MRI scheduled for Thursday morning (ET).
