The number of players withdrawing their name from the Team USA roster for the upcoming FIBA World Cup in China continues to grow.

On July 14, Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reported that Anthony Davis would be the first star to remove his name from the roster of 20 players selected to attend Team USA's training camp and tryout.

This started a domino effect over the next couple of days, followed by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reporting that Houston Rockets' star James Harden would also withdraw his name.

On July 20, Shams Charania of The Athletic added Rockets' guard Eric Gordon to the list of players who will take their name off the Team USA ballot, with Haynes of Yahoo Sports then reporting that Portland Trail Blazers' star guard CJ McCollum will also remove his name.

Per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports , Washington Wizards All-Star guard Bradley Beal became the lastest to withdraw from USA Basketball Training Camp and the FIBA World Cup due to the birth of his child. The Athletic's Shams Charania would later report that Tobias Harris will withdraw from World Cup consideration.

In response to the growing list of players to withdraw, The Athletic's Shams Charania has reported that the team has added Marcus Smart , Jaylen Brown and Julius Randle and has extended an invitation to Thaddeus Young .

Charania would later report that Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard and San Antonio Spurs' DeMar DeRozan have withdrawn from playing for Team USA this summer.

The Athletic's Joe Vardon has reported that Cavaliers forward Kevin Love has informed Gregg Popovich of his intentions to withdraw from playing with Team USA as well. Nuggets beat reporter Harrison Wind has added that Paul Millsap is among the list of players that will not participate.

ESPN reported that JJ Redick was thrilled to receive the Team USA invitation but withdrew from the six-week commitment with the relocation of his family to New Orleans. In an official statement released by USA Basketball on August 1st, they announced that centers Andre Drummond and Montrezl Harrell had also withdrawn from the World Cup training camp.

On August 3rd, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that Julius Randle is the latest to drop out of the FIBA World Cup "due to a family issue". His replacement has yet to be reported.

Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes has reported that Kings guard De'Aaron Fox is the most recent addition to the National Team roster to provide backcourt depth.

The roster currently stands at 16 - 12 players will be selected to don the Red, White and Blue for Team USA at the FIBA World Cup.
