Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray suffers painful knee injury against Golden State Warriors

Jamal Murray clutched his left knee in pain as he landed awkwardly on a drive to the basket.

The Denver Nuggets point guard was helped off the floor at Chase Center after going down in the final minute of their 116-107 loss to the Golden State Warriors with an apparent knee injury.

He stayed down for several minutes before walking off the floor and into the locker room with the help of the training staff.

Murray exited the game with 17 points, four assists and four rebounds.

In a potentially devastating injury for Murray and the Nuggets, head coach Mike Malone said the mood in the locker room was "very down."

"I know he's hurting right now, and I hurt because of that," Malone said.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr addressed Murray's injury to begin his post-game press conference, expressing sympathy for the 24-year-old.

"Everybody in our locker room is thinking about Jamal Murray," Kerr said. "Hoping for the best."

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the "Nuggets are working to get Murray an MRI on that left knee to evaluate the severity of the knee injury."

The fifth-year guard has been enjoying a stellar season for the surging Nuggets, averaging 21.3 points and 4.8 assists while shooting a career-high 48 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from the 3-point range.
