The Dallas Wings have selected Texas Longhorns star, Charli Collier with the first pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft.

Holding four picks in the top seven, Dallas went with the athletic 6'5" foward/centre with the top selection.

It comes on the back of an outstanding season with Texas, where Collier averaged 19.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks across 31 appearances.

“When you look at Charli, she looks like a WNBA player. She’s big and strong, has a great frame, plays really hard. She added the three-point shot, which a stretch 4 needs to have now in the WNBA. She’s got a good-looking stroke," ESPN college and WNBA broadcaster Rebecca Lobo said prior to the draft.

Dallas acquired the No. 1 pick by trading forward Katie Lou Samuelson and a second-round pick in 2022 to the Seattle Storm. The Storm first acquired the No. 1 pick, alongside a 2022 first-round pick and a 2022 second-pick from the Liberty for former Defensive Player of the Year Natasha Howard.
