Connecticut Sun extend win streak to 10, strengthen hold on top seed

The WNBA's top team - the Connecticut Sun - rolled into Dallas and courtesy of a dominant 83-56 win, extended their win streak to 10 games.

Including their current streak, the Sun have now won 14 of their last 15 games and hold a two-game lead for the league's top seed with almost every team having four games remaining.

The 10-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the WNBA this season and is the second-longest in franchise history, trailing only the franchise-best of 12 from 2006.

In this victory, five players scored in double figures led by Brionna Jones, who recorded her third double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. She also recorded three steals as the Sun ran away with this one early by outscoring the Dallas Wings 30-13 in the first quarter.

For the Wings, who are currently the seventh seed, Marina Mabrey top-scored with 16 points as the team finishes 0-3 in the season series against the Sun.

Storm shoot lights-out vs. Mystics

In the other game on the WNBA's Tuesday slate, the defending champions shot lights-out and recorded a comfortable 105-71 victory against the Washington Mystics.

The Storm knocked down 14 3-pointers on a remarkable efficiency of 60.9 percent with five players burying at least two 3-pointers.

Starting shooting guard Jewel Lloyd was the team's top performer with 20 points, six rebounds and six assists. Combined with her backcourt mate Sue Bird, the duo were alone responsible for seven 3-pointers on nine attempts.

This is the Storm's first time winning consecutive games since Aug. 23. With two games left, the Storm are just a game behind one of the league's top two spots - which guarantees a direct bye to the playoff semifinals.
