Brooklyn Nets' Kyrie Irving set to again miss meeting with Boston Celtics

The Brooklyn Nets first visit to Boston was highly anticipated by fans around the league, as Kyrie Irving was slated to meet his old team for the first time.

Irving would not see the floor in the Thanksgiving eve matchup, with a right shoulder injury keeping him sidelined for a seventh game in a row.

The second of the home-and-home schedule between the two teams is set for tomorrow, though, Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that Irving's absence will extend to eight games, as he is once again set to miss a game against his former teammates.

Without Irving, the Nets fell 121-110 to the Celtics and now hold a 9-9 record, good for the seventh seed in the East.

In his 11 appearances to start the season, Irving is averaging a career-high 28.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.2 assists.

The 27-year-old has a long injury history over the course of his career, missing at least ten games in seven of his first eight seasons in the league. The Nets will be hoping their six-time All-Star point guard will be back sooner rather than later, as they look to keep pace with the playoff contenders in the East.
