Biggest storylines

Life without Ben

The Philadelphia 76ers picked up their first win of the preseason against the Toronto Raptors.

Without Ben Simmons still absent, Doc Rivers opted to start Shake Milton with Tyrese Maxey the primary back up off the bench.

Maxey finished with 14 points and five assists in just 21 minutes, posting an efficient 6-for-9 shooting mark. Preseason is one thing, but the situation at point guard remains the biggest talking point for Philadelphia heading into the season.

Box score stuffing Adams

The biggest change on the Memphis Grizzlies roster has come in the big man department, with Jonas Valanciunas traded away as Steven Adams moved into the assumed starting center role.

Adams was everywhere in this one, tallying 15 points on just seven shots while also reeling in 16 rebounds.

The big kiwi plays a physical brand of basketball that has appeared to take a toll over the last few seasons, but it's worth remember he only just turned 28. Perhaps the Grizzlies haven't lost their reliable big man filling up the middle as they attempt to once again reach the postseason.

6MOY Candidate

By his own admission, Tyler Herro was far from satisfied with his 2021 NBA season.

Coming off a breakout NBA Finals campaign just months earlier, Herro failed to live up to the lofty expectations placed on his shoulders.

If his start to the preseason is anything to go by, the bounce back campaign may be on the horizon. Herro stuffed the stat sheet against the Rockets and looms as Miami's key cog off the bench.

Herro has now totalled 50 points on 64 percent shooting from the field through two preseason games.

On a veteran roster, Herro could well be the missing link between the Heat simply making the postseason and once again making a run for the Finals.
