Canadian moment of the week: Kelly Olynyk wins it for the Heat

#Kelly

The best Canadian moment of the opening week came in the waning moments of Thursday night's meeting between the Miami Heat and Washington Wizards.

Miami, who was on the second night of a back-to-back, trailed Washington by one point with under seven seconds remaining in regulation. After a missed turnaround jumper by Dwyane Wade, Kelly Olynyk grabbed the offensive rebound and followed with a put-back layup to give the Heat a one-point lead with 0.2 seconds remaining in the game.

It was the first game-winning basket of Olynyk's NBA career. Prior to the make, he was 0-5 in the regular season and playoffs with 0:10 seconds or less left in the fourth quarter or overtime.

The last time he attempted a shot, under those circumstances, was against these same Wizards last season on March 6th, 2018. His three-point attempt that night missed and the Wizards wound up walking away with a 115-113 overtime victory over the Heat.

The Kamloops, BC native finished up Thursday night's game with nine points and four rebounds and is averaging 7.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists through the Heat's first three games of the 2018-19 season.
